<body>The Statistical Abstract files are distributed by the &quot;US Census Department&quot;:http://www.census.gov/population/www/popdata.html as Microsoft Excel files. These files have data mixed with notes and references, multiple tables per sheet, and, worst of all, the table headers are not easily matched to their rows and columns.

A few files had extraneous characters in the title. These were corrected to be consistent. A few files have a sheet of crufty gibberish in the first slot. The sheet order was shuffled but no data were changed.

The tables that were changed (this is table 1145):

This dataset consists of a table of 35 rows and 5 columns.

As of end of year, seasonally adjusted. Household debt service ratio is an estimate of the ratio of debt payments to disposable personal income. Debt payments consist of the estimated required payments on outstanding mortgage and consumer debt. The financial obligations ratio adds automobile lease payments, rental payments on tenant-occupied property, homeowners' insurance, and property tax payments to the debt service ratio</body>

    <description>From the &quot;US Census bureau&quot;:http://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/

bq.. The Statistical Abstract of the United States, published since 1878, is the authoritative and comprehensive summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States.

Use the Abstract as a convenient volume for statistical reference, and as a guide to sources of more information both in print and on the Web.

Sources of data include the Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bureau of Economic Analysis, and many other Federal agencies and private organizations.

p. The Infochimps repository contains the entirety of the 2008 Statistic Abstract, one dataset for each of its 1356 tables. Stock ownership rates, statistics on livestock, foreclosure frequencies -- you name it, it's in the Statistical Abstract.</description>
